Several years ago I wrote a series of hacks for MacHack which I called the Annoyance Pack. These were practical jokes to play on friends. One of those hacks was called NVwls (No Vowels). It removed all the vowels that were typed on the keyboard.
Somebody on AOL liked NVwls enough to write an installer for it so it could be hidden in the System File. This was slightly evil, but I didn't care.
Then last year (well 1994 it seems) this installer (or code just like it) was posted to the Internet (and possibly some other services) with a different description. It became a Trojan Horse. The press of course called it a virus. It is the job of the press to define reality, of course, so who am I to argue with them?
After much soul searching, I have decided that I must atone for this act which used my code. As a result, here is Vowel Doubler:
What is it?
Vowel Doubler attempts to make up for the removal of all the innocent vowels caused by my code. For each vowel (a, e, i, o, and u) that you type, you will receive an extra copy of that vowel. In this way, I hope to re-balance the cosmic vowel count and return peace to our innocent universe.
Use these extra vowels only for good. Beware the dark side.
